The Laboratory of Statistics and Quantitative Analysis Methods – Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LASCM) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, was established in 2002. LASCM aims at the development and practical implementation of high-level scientific knowledge on the broad thematic areas of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, as well as their distribution in society for fostering national economy and sustainable development in Greece.

LASCM’s main research fields include Supply Chain Management / Reverse Logistics, Green Supply Chain Management, Intermodal Logistics, Inventory Management, Management Information Systems, Security and Supply Chain Management, Public Policy-Making / Regulatory Interventions, as well as Supply Chain Risk Management.

Apart from significant academic accomplishments (200+ publications in international journals, conference proceeding and books), the Lab has conducted applied research as Leader / Partner in 18 National/European Projects funded by European Commission and various public and private organizations in Greece or abroad. Indicatively, these project dealt with: Strategic Supply Chain Design and Best Inventory Management Practices, Feasibility Studies for initiating Shipping Lines in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Feasibility Study for the Operation of a Freight Village in the Region, Design, Planning and Policy Making for Sustainable Agri-food Supply Chains, Design of Education and Training Programs in Logistics, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), as well as Strategic Master Plan for Port Network Development.
